On Saturday October 8th, the Cayman Brac Heritage House held a special Thank You Reception in honour of those who have contributed to the success of its programmes, events and displays during the past year.
Since June 2010, six new programmes have been successfully staged and without the positive involvement and efforts of many volunteers and outstanding community members, most of these initiatives would not have been possible. These programmes are Visitor Craft Sessions, Traditional Cooking Classes, Heritage House Kids Days, Craft Markets, Volunteer Workshop Days and Live Demonstration Days.
A slideshow presentation which was shown at the ceremony, highlighted the many achievements made over the past months. Artwork from previously featured artists, along with items from a past volunteer workshop day, and a tea set belonging to the Honourable Acting Premier, were on display.
The Honourable Acting Premier presented Certificates of Appreciation to specially invited guests. Recipients were those in the education fields, government agencies, hospitality industry, business owners, and other individuals who graciously donated their time, knowledge and talents.
Ladies in attendance that evening were also encouraged to wear their best hat attire as part of a hat show. All participants received a mini thatch hat created by Mrs. Annilee Ebanks. Light refreshments and musical entertainment by the District Commissioner Mr. Ernie Scott JP, and Mr. Raymond Scott completed the celebration.
Assistant Programme Coordinator Saskia Edwards thanked attendees for joining her in being ambassadors in promoting Caymanian culture. “We hope this event encourages others to also volunteer their skills in our programmes as we look forward to continuing to achieve great things together in the future”.
