The Cayman Islands Fire Service (CIFS), operating under the Ministry of Home Affairs and led by a Chief Fire Officer, is dedicated to protecting the safety and security of residents and visitors across Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac, and Little Cayman. With specialised units for domestic and aerodrome firefighting, the CIFS handles structure, brush, motor vehicle, and aircraft fires, as well as land and sea search and rescue operations.
The Fire Prevention Unit conducts safety inspections and fire investigations, while community outreach programmes educate the public on fire safety. CIFS officers undergo rigorous training, including a comprehensive Trainee Firefighter course covering both domestic and aeronautical firefighting, ensuring they are well-prepared for various emergencies. Strategically located stations enable a coordinated and effective response, making CIFS an indispensable asset to the islands' safety and well-being.
