Tropical Storm Franklin

At 9 AM on Monday August 7, Tropical Storm Franklin was located at 17.7N 85.1W moving WNW at 14 mph. Max sustained: 60 mph.

This storm will produce heavy showers, gusty winds and rough seas over the Cayman area for the next 12 hours as it moves west northwest. Some of these showers will locally heavy at times which may lead to flooding in low lying area.

THE CAYMAN ISLANDS NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE WILL CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE PROGRESS OF THIS STORM.

On the forecast track, the centre of Tropical Storm Franklin will approach the east coast of the Yucatan peninsula on Monday afternoon. The system is forecast to move across the Yucatan Peninsula Monday night and Tuesday.Some strengthening is forecast before Franklin reaches the eastern coast of the Yucatan Peninsula.
