Parenting Assistance to Sister Islands
In response to identified child-rearing concerns and issues on the Sister Islands, a National Parenting Programme (NPP) team will travel to Cayman Brac and Little Cayman next week.
The NPP's approach to the Brac is to offer a specific programme to benefit parents and children, as well as those who offer family-related services.
A special workshop on 'Meeting the Nutritional Needs of Infants and Pre-schoolers' will be held at the Brac Reef Hotel's conference room on 7:00pm on Thursday, 16 March, for parents of the Cayman Brac Daycare Centre. Under the theme 'Building Stronger Children', the NPP team will talk about meeting the nutritional needs of infants and preschoolers, as well as general nurturing and child-safety issues. For more information on the Cayman Brac NPP events, contact Mrs. Annie Rose Scott at 948-2332.
A second Sister Islands session will be held on Little Cayman at 3:00pm the following day, Friday, 17 March, entitled 'Family Safety – Bridging the Gap', at the Hungry Iguana Restaurant. That discussion will focus on keeping children safe, and becoming involved in children's academic progress.
The National Parenting Programme's (NPP) country-wide outreach is continuing under the 2006 theme of 'Bringing It Home – Keeping It Real' with a focus on providing basic tips and practical advice. Established NPP district teams are making personal visits to families and sharing information and practical tips on a range of parenting.
