The North Side Primary School is almost CI$25,000 better off following a charity walk to raise cash to improve the library and purchase playground equipment.

On Saturday (March 11) around 70 children walked from North Side Primary School to Cayman Kai Public Beach.

Police Commissioner Stuart Kernohan, Chief Inspector Adrian Seales and Local Beat Officer Richard Hanna joined the children on the walk that began at 6.30am.

Principal of the school, Mrs. King said: "The walk was an experience beyond our wildest dreams. The support from the Police and Government for the North Side community is unprecedented.

"This will give the children great opportunities and it shows the community that people do care and are interested in North Side."

A presentation was made to the top four children who raised the most money. First place was a Cayman Airways gift certificate donated by the RCIPS.

Second place was a 20-inch television donated by Dave Olson, a North Side resident, and a DVD player donated by Sounds and Things.

Third place received a 13-inch television donated by Sounds and Things.

Fourth place was a half hour session on the reality games at Davie Jones Locker donated by owner Ken Moore.

Organisers would like to extend thanks to all who sponsored and supported the walk with special thanks being sent to Edna Moyle (Speaker of the House) and Spin FM for their support.

Officers would also like to extend thanks to drivers that exercised caution when passing the procession.
