Ag Inspection Moves
The Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Health Inspection Services Unit will soon move to a new office.
On Monday, 3 April, the unit will move to the Cargo Express Building, located between the Customs Warehouse and the Airport Post Office. "These new, upgraded facilities will greatly enhance the unit's functions and service provided to the community," said Chief Agricultural and Veterinary Officer, Dr Alfred Benjamin.
Key functions of the inspection services include issuing import permits for plants and plant products, and coordinating inspections for these items. Plant-related import permits can be issued in the name of either individuals or companies.
To apply for a permit, or to schedule an inspection please visit the new office location between 8 a.m. and 4:30 pm., Monday to Friday, or call 949-7909.
Permits for the import and export of animals will continue to be issued from the Department of Agriculture's head office in Lower Valley. People who need this service should continue to visit the Department's Lower Valley office, or call 947-3090.
The Agricultural Health Inspection Service will maintain a presence in the Customs Arrival Hall, to protect the Islands' public health by guarding against the illegal importation of plant and animal products.
