NCFC's First 100 Days: A Strong Start

In its first 100 days, the National Coalition For Caymanians (NCFC) Government has taken decisive action to address key issues and introduce innovative solutions.

Working closely with our country’s dedicated civil service, we’ve made significant progress in a short time.

We are proud of what we’ve accomplished together with your input and are excited to share how these early steps are shaping a better future for Caymanians.

We Want To Hear From You

The NCFC Government wants your input. Let us now what we should start, stop and continue to better serve the people.
Once polls close, the Elections Office verifies and certifies the results to ensure accuracy and transparency. After this official count, results are announced via the Elections Office and government channels.
After the certification of results, the Supervisor of Elections returns the Writs of Election to the Governor. This official return confirms each successful candidate as a duly elected Member of Parliament (MP), fulfilling the requirements under Section 84 of the Constitution. The return of the writs allows the Governor to formally recognise the elected Members and proceed to the next steps in establishing Parliament.
The Governor issues a Proclamation under Section 83(1) of the Constitution, setting the date, time, and location for the first meeting of the new Parliament. This Proclamation is publicly announced and marks the next step toward forming a new government.

At the first sitting of Parliament:

  • The Speaker and Deputy Speaker are elected by the Members of Parliament, as required under Section 65.

  • All Members take the Oath of Allegiance and the Oath for the Due Execution of Office, in accordance with Section 60 of the Constitution.

These oaths are legally required before any Member may participate in parliamentary proceedings.

At the first sitting, Members elect the Premier by majority vote. The Premier is then appointed by the Governor under Section 49 of the Constitution, from among the elected Members who appear to command the support of the majority of elected Members.
Once appointed, the Premier advises the Governor on the appointment of Ministers, in line with Section 54 of the Constitution. Each Minister must take the Oath of Allegiance and the Oath for the Due Execution of Office under Section 60 before assuming their responsibilities as Cabinet Ministers.

Fixing What Matters Most

The Government’s actions are centred around the issues most frequently raised during the election. Key initiatives include:

  • Starting long-awaited immigration reform
  • Offering stamp-duty waivers for 69 Caymanians purchasing their first or second property
  • Securing additional funding for services benefiting the elderly and vulnerable
  • Ensuring returning graduates are considered for jobs in both private and public sectors
  • Approving legislation to support the financial services industry
  • Creating a national workforce committee to implement the human capital strategy
  • Completing the first eight affordable homes at Flamingo Point, North Side
  • Launching new affordable housing sites in George Town, Bodden Town, and West Bay, with over 60 homes in development
  • Commencing affordable housing projects in Cayman Brac through the Sister Islands Affordable Housing Development Corporation

These actions directly address the pressing issues affecting Caymanian families.
