Cabinet Secretariat

The Cabinet Secretariat provides support to Cabinet, the Premier and the National Security Council issues tax undertaking certificates and hears appeals. The Secretariat does not offer a wide range of services to the general public – almost all of its outputs are intended to service the weekly meetings of Cabinet and meetings of the National Security Council. The Secretariat is also responsible for coordinating Cabinet and National Security Council meeting agendas and minutes, as well as publishing of post-meeting summaries, the dissemination of extracts of meetings to the relevant Ministry/Portfolio, and the safeguarding of vital records.

Tax Undertaking

Tax exemption certificates (“TECs”) protect exempted companies, exempted trusts, exempted limited partnerships, limited liability companies and limited liability partnerships for periods of twenty (20), thirty (30) or fifty (50) years, in the event that taxation is introduced in the Cayman Islands. Applications for new TECs or renewals can be made online using the General Registry’s Corporate Administration Platform system (if access has been granted).  Manual applications are required for exempted trust TECs, endorsements, certified copies, and duplicates, the process for manual applications  with the relevant requirements can be found in the Manual TEC Document and Payment Requirements document. Online applications are processed within 2 – 3 days of submission and manual applications are processed within 2 weeks.
