Public Holidays

2023 Calendar

The Cayman Islands Cabinet has approved 8 May 2023 as a Public General Holiday in honour of the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III. This public holiday was gazetted on Friday, 25 November 2022 as Public Holidays (No.2) Order, 2022.

Consequently, there will be two public holidays on two consecutive Mondays in May 2023 – the Coronation public holiday, followed by the Discovery Day public holiday on 15 May 2023.

Meanwhile, the Cabinet has confirmed that Monday, 19 June 2023 will be observed as a general public holiday in the Cayman Islands in celebration of the official birthday of His Majesty King Charles III.

The Public Holiday Act 2007 sets out the Sovereign’s official birthday celebration as “The Monday following the Saturday appointed in the United Kingdom as the official birthday of the reigning sovereign”.

To commemorate the official passage of the Atlantic hurricane season which ends on 30th November,  Cayman Thanksgiving is celebrated on the first Sunday in December.  Whilst not a public holiday, this observance was agreed in Cabinet and is officially recognised as part of the national calendar.

The 2023 public holidays in the Cayman Islands are below.
