Coaching for Impact

 

This course equips civil service managers with essential coaching skills to enhance team performance, engagement, and adaptability. Through a blended learning approach, participants will explore the foundational philosophies of coaching, develop practical skills for both planned and unplanned coaching conversations, and refine their techniques through peer practice and structured feedback. The course will support success in the Building Capability Manager Core Competency.

Course Delivery

Part 1 is a self-study introduction online. In which you will learn the basic philosophies of coaching, learning styles and use a diagnostic tool. Part 2, 3 and 4 are in-person sessions that are both skill building and experiential.

Part 2 covers a comprehensive understanding of coaching principles, skills and practical techniques, including the GROW model.

Part 3 builds on your understanding to further develop and finesse your skills and coaching techniques within the OSCAR model.

Part 4 relates to using your acquired skills and techniques to enhance performance, engagement, and adaptability in change.

During the in-person sessions you will be expected to actively develop a plan for continuous professional growth, ask powerful questions, and engage in constructive coaching debriefs through effective feedback exchanges within the classroom.

Part 5 of your course is an online post-evaluation exercise, which along with bite-size question checks (which are completed as you progress) will take you to course completion.

Upon completion of your question checks and post-course evaluation you will receive a Civil Service College certificate of completion.
