The Attorney-General decided in September 2005 to transfer the Legal Practitioners Bill to the Commission for a more in depth review of the Bill.

Terms of Reference

In August 2003 a draft Legal Practitioners Bill was prepared by the Legislative Drafting Department on the instructions of the Attorney- General. For some time previously the Cayman Islands Law Society and the Caymanian Bar Association had been working on proposals for such a Bill and had submitted material for this purpose. In 2004 the draft Bill was reviewed by the Attorney-General and the Chief Justice. Various revisions to the Bill were made on their instructions. The Attorney-General decided in September 2005 to transfer the Legal Practitioners Bill to the Commission for a more in depth review of the Bill.
