On Thursday, 8 September 2022, Buckingham Palace announced the passing of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at Balmoral Castle in Scotland. 

REMEMBERING HER LATE MAJESTY QUEEN ELIZABETH II

Throughout her 70 year reign, Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II served the United Kingdom, Commonwealth and Overseas Territories with dedication and dignity. In her lifetime, she twice visited the Cayman Islands, in 1983 and 1994. These occasions remain fond and lasting memories for many. 

The people of the Cayman Islands join others around the world in mourning the loss of a beloved Sovereign and remembering her great legacy.

On Sunday the 11th of September, following His Majesty The King's Proclamation at the Accession Council at St James's Palace in London, the Cayman Islands held its proclamation ceremony at Government House in Grand Cayman.

On 9 September 2022, a 96 Gun Salute as a mark of respect to Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, was held at Government House in Grand Cayman. One round was fired every 10 seconds with the number of rounds fired to match her age.
